Helping to put the bounce back in Murray's day - Hearts and Minds. Improving lives, one smile at a time.

We recently received this Special Story from Murray’s Mum about the visit he enjoyed at Forth Valley Hospital from Dr Cous Cous and Dr GoGo and how they helped him forget his pain for a wee while.

Murray was recovering from surgery to remove his appendix, two days earlier. Just before the visit Murray had got out of bed for the first time and managed a small walk. He was still in a lot of pain and had lost his confidence in small things. When the Clowndoctors came Murray instantly perked up.  He was smiling and laughing for the first time in days. He jumped out of his seat at one point to take part, making him forget about the discomfort and everything he had been through.

The Clowndoctors were really good at adapting what they were doing for each individual child.  They picked up from Murray’s t-shirt he liked space so they talked about space.  When Murray was interacting and suggesting other things they could do they followed his lead and made him feel special for coming up with the idea.

We have been fortunate not to have had a child in hospital for any length of time or go through a major operation before and therefore were not prepared for the emotional impact it could have on them.  However I can truly say having the visit from the Clowndoctors made Murray’s day and his memory of the hospital experience very positive.  It made me so happy to watch him bounce back to his normal self, even for a short time.  When he talks about his operation and his hospital stay the Clowns are the first thing he mentions.

Thank you to the two special clowns
