A joyful closing event to our 25 year celebrations with our friends at RHCYP
The Clowndoctors brought their year of celebration to a close this month with an event at Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Children & Young People. We’ve been having parties in each of our units to recognise the partnerships we have with staff, patients, pupils, and families that have built over years of laughs, jokes, music, and slapstick.
The Edinburgh event was filled with patients and NHS staff, our trustees, team, and supporters. Ben, our wizarding digital genius, created a gorgeous video (please check it out), showing just how many children and young people we have worked with, why we do it, and how it’s done.
We are on a mission to make sure that all children and young people in Scotland expect to see a Clowndoctor in hospital and events like this are important to spread awareness of our work in and out of the hospital.
One of the many great privileges of working with RHCYP over a long period of time is the relationships that have been built with nursing staff, play specialists, Radio Lollipop and long-term patients and families.
There were so many good things that happened that night but two were very special - meeting a young nurse who was a patient over 10 years ago, reuniting with her Clowndoctor Dr Cous Cous.
And overhearing one of our supporters telling a friend, “This is the most wholesome and heart-warming thing I’ve ever been part of”.
Who doesn’t need a bit of that in their lives!
